Mezcal
According to legend, mezcal came about when a lightning bolt struck an agave plant in Mexico's Oaxacan desert, instantly cooking its core and splitting it open. Out poured the first mezcal. Also known as tequila’s smoky cousin, mezcal has become the undisputed booze of choice for the wellness-obsessed. A good mezcal contains no additives, it’s pure, it’s low in carbs, and some have noticed post-mezcal mornings are not nearly as bad as others.
Spencer Taliaferro invited Edible Sarasota to sample three cocktails from the cocktail menu at MADE Restaurant in Sarasota, including an infused mezcal ice pop.
