All respect to classic game-day food offerings—from seven-layer dip to chicken wings—but I’m craving some new riffs. Let’s be honest: Those of us whose football repartee is limited to quotes from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (“Laces out!”) are sitting near the television just because of its proximity to the food. While serious fans are meticulously analyzing the touchdown replay footage, we’re contemplating what spice it is that is making this onion dip impossible to resist. So for all our fellow phony football fan party guests, here’s something to really think about while staring blankly at the TV: Nachos get a coastal kick with spicy crab, popcorn shrimp takes on a whole new meaning, jackfruit goes Cuban with a citrusy mojo and sweet plantains, and chocolate potato chips become your new favorite game day sweet, salty, and spicy snack.
