One of the best things about Florida is the opportunity to enjoy picnics pretty much anywhere, anytime. I keep my basket and blanket handy so when a sunset looks too good to pass up I can quickly head out. Picnics offer a magical pairing of delicious food and beautiful landscapes. You can create them on the fly with a deli sandwich, a PB&J, or cold pizza slices (one of my favorites), but with a little time and effort you can also prepare some dishes that will surely please. I like to pack things that are fresh, easy to eat and simple to pack, like sandwiches, bite-sized treats, salads, fruits, and hand-held desserts. And when temperatures are reaching for the sky, I especially like to incorporate the freshness of citrus, lemongrass, mint, cucumbers, baby greens, and sweet fruits, along with savory proteins.

Whatever your basket holds, it will be a great picnic, I’m sure!
