Mangrove Snapper 3 Ways
Often, we choose food based on life experiences, some dating back to childhood. When it comes to fish, we might opt for cod or grouper at markets or restaurants, simply due to familiarity.
But an abundant life includes trying new things! So, consider a fish that’s delicious and different: mangrove snapper, also known as Gray Snapper. It’s similar to red snapper, but available year-round—great for consumers and anglers alike. It’s also an abundant species, considered a sustainable choice, so we can feel especially good about that.
The fish is very accessible, with anglers finding one- to two-pounders near shore, and coveted 10-pound “mangs” offshore. Lucky for us, fish markets and restaurants offer it, too.
This mild, flaky, sweet fish can be prepared many ways, and here you’ll find three tasty recipes to make at home: pan-seared fish with sweet/spicy Peppadew and peach salsa; crunchy, coconut-coated fish with lime; and fish tacos with fresh toppings. Enjoy!
