Why We Love It: The Phillippi Farmhouse Market may only be open from October to May, but during those cooler months (from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday), more than 35 vendors pack the grounds of Phillippi Estate Park in Sarasota. Lemonade, kettle corn, ice cream, orchids and tea are among the coveted items for purchase. One of Sarasota’s most beloved mid-week farmers’ markets, Phillippi is easily accessible from U.S. 41/Tamiami and has plenty of free parking and live entertainment. The setting is photograph-worthy, too. Phillippi Estate Park is a 60-acre natural park by Phillippi Creek, and it features the historic Edson Keith Mansion (which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places). The dog-friendly grounds offer picnic areas, nature trails and kayaking/canoeing access, and the landscape is available for cultural events and art exhibits. Grab a lawn chair, a homemade donut and some handcrafted soap, and marvel at the tree-lined scenery while feasting.
