Englewood Farmers’ Market
Last Updated July 16, 2015
Why We Love It: Since it was founded in 2011, the Englewood Farmers’ Market has been an economic driver for South Sarasota County and its resident independent businesses. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday each October to April, the market draws thousands of spectators to Olde Englewood Village on Dearborn Street—a historic district that is known for its theatre venue, galleries, coffee shops, parades, festivals and holiday-themed outdoor events. During the weekly market, a diverse crop of vendors from Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee counties congregates to sell organic groceries, ethnic baked goods, pickles, freshly picked herbs, locally harvested fruits and vegetables, plants, artwork, jewelry and homemade desserts. Though the city of Englewood may only be home to about 15,000 people, there are more than 60 booths at the market, and that number grows rapidly. Each year, the Englewood market continues to pull in local and out-of-town regulars who crave artisanal, original items.
