Why We Love It: Located on Gasparilla Island—one of Southwest Florida’s most coveted stretches of sandy real estate—the 2014-founded Boca Grande Farmers’ Market is open seasonally. From 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Friday from October through April, there is an array of fresh, locally grown produce, as well as handmade original arts and crafts items, and even live music and entertainment. The community-focused, family-owned market is bicycle-, pedestrian- and golf cart-friendly. Because only about 1,500 people live in the affluent, beachside city of Boca Grande, the market itself is as quaint as it is tranquil. There are various festivals in and around Gasparilla Island that often overlap with the market hours, so it is easy to make a vacation (or staycation) out of a Boca Grande visit and never have a shortage of adventures. Shop for the weekend’s supplies at the market, store them at a nearby inn, and head out for an evening event before cuddling back up for a garden-fresh, home-cooked dinner.
