Cuisine for Canines, Einstein Pets Offers Delish Options for Dogs
From canine-friendly sweet potato pie snacks to black-and-white cookies, Kelly Ison’s creations for Einstein Pets are as decadent (and healthy) as dog treats get.
A Sarasota-based manufacturer of organic foods for four-legged companions, Ison’s company was born in 2017 and inspired by her adopted dog, Abbey. Using her 25-plus years of global corporate work with organizations such as Bloomin’ Brands, her restaurant management experience, and her genuine passion for cooking, Ison has catapulted Einstein Pets into a worldwide brand.
“I wanted to leverage my love for cooking and restaurant experience to create the purest, most heart-healthy, natural, cleverly crafted treats,” says Ison, who currently sells her products to the public online, and wholesale to national retailers. “People want accountability, traceability, and quality products they can believe in.”
Months of research led to the creation of the first perfect recipe: dog treats infused with chia seeds that packed super nutrients into every bite. That one product lent itself to multiple flavor options for treats, which were produced in small batches with limited human- grade ingredients. Ison now offers 12 original biscuit recipes.
“Truly, keeping the recipes simple and using ingredients that you can find at your local store has made all the difference in the world,” Ison says. PB’N Jelly Time—the prototype—has continuously been Ison’s most successful product (it is made with peanut butter, blueberries, oat flour, and chia seeds). The Sweet Potato Pie flavor is brimming with cinnamon, making it the perfect “doggie breath refresher,” Ison says. The Pumpkin Time treat has pumpkin, fresh apples, sweet honey, cinnamon, and vanilla. The black-and-white cookies (with peanut butter, bananas, and turkey bacon) are based on a cookie confection that was famously quoted on the “Seinfeld” sitcom, when Jerry said, “Look to the cookie, Elaine.” And there are even seasonal favorites like Santa’s Helper (with turkey, oat flour, sweet potatoes, cranberries, honey, and cinnamon).
“The feedback for our treats has been amazing. Nothing short of ‘I love the treats so much that I eat them too!’ That makes what I do all worth it,” Ison says. “Our purpose is to guide Einstein Pets to be a company with a conscience—focused on delivering happiness, empowering overall pet parents, and nurturing our community and the planet by feeding the worlds’ dogs natural, organic, healthy, and yummy dog treats.”
As Einstein Pets continues to grow, so does Ison’s commitment to giving back to the community. She collaborates with local shops like DOGPerfect and Woof Gang Bakery, and rescue groups such as the Sunshine State Westie Rescue and the Florida Brittany Rescue, to improve the lives of canines everywhere.
