Why We Love It: Since late 2014, the Market at Five Points has been held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday from November to April in downtown Sarasota. It is another opportunity—brought to the public by those who help operate the longtime Sarasota Farmers’ Market—to shop locally. While this version is significantly smaller than the weekly Saturday market, it has a large variety of produce, premade meals, plants and artisanal products. Before or after a visit to the market, stop by the Selby Public Library to check out a book. Drop into one of the adjacent cafes for an iced coffee, try sushi rolls at a nearby restaurant, or go to a shoe boutique. The Five Points event is a midweek market experience that accommodates those with atypical work schedules. It is also a way for downtown workers to spend a lunch break scooping up authentic, local wares while snacking and mingling.
